Former Ikwerre LG Chairman Samuel Nwanosike Admits to Violating Hotel Approval, Begs Sim Fubara Appointee

Chief Samuel Nwanosike, the former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, has publicly admitted to contravening approval regulations for his hotel project in Port Harcourt. Known for his staunch criticisms of the current governor, Sim Fubara, Chief Nwanosike has made headlines again, this time for pleading for leniency from a Fubara appointee in a viral video.

Chief Nwanosike has a history of defying authorities. During his tenure as chairman, he frequently clashed with Governor Fubara, whom he disparagingly referred to as a "small boy" and someone "who doesn't know anything." His defiance extended to his refusal to vacate his position after the expiration of his term, creating significant tension within the local government administration.

Accusations have surfaced that Chief Nwanosike diverted funds intended for local government projects to purchase land and develop a hotel in Port Harcourt. This misuse of public funds has been a point of contention, especially given the former chairman's vocal stance against perceived mismanagement by others.

Meanwhile, the Former Ikwerre LGA Chairman Samuel Nwanosike has been mandated to pay the sum of N555,000,000 only as a fine for contravention of original plan for his hotel.

The crux of the current controversy lies in Chief. Nwanosike's hotel project, which he pursued without securing the necessary building approvals. This oversight led to the Rivers State government sealing the nearly completed hotel, a move that has brought Chief Nwanosike's actions into sharp focus.

In a viral video, Chief Nwanosike can be seen pleading with a representative of Governor Fubara's administration to unseal his hotel. "I admit to have contravened approval for my hotel," he stated, acknowledging his failure to comply with legal requirements. This admission marks a significant shift from his previously defiant stance.

Chief Nwanosike's plea for the unsealing of his hotel underscores the gravity of his situation. The video has sparked widespread discussion, given his prior criticisms of Governor Fubara and his administration. Many see this as a moment of reckoning for the former chairman, who now finds himself at the mercy of the very government he once openly challenged.

This incident raises broader questions about accountability and governance at the local level in Rivers State.  Nwanosike's case highlights the potential consequences of misappropriating public funds and bypassing regulatory processes. It also serves as a cautionary tale for other public officials who might consider similar actions.

Governor Fubara's administration has yet to comment on the viral video and Chief Nwanosike's plea. However, the public admission by a former high-ranking official could prompt further scrutiny of local government operations and more stringent enforcement of approval regulations for development projects.

Samuel Nwanosike's admission of violating hotel approval regulations and his subsequent plea for mercy marks a dramatic turn in his public career. Known for his outspoken criticism of Governor Fubara,  Nwanosike now faces the repercussions of his actions. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Rivers State government will respond to his request and what implications this will have for local governance and accountability in the region.
