Tinubu’s Aide Alleges Coordinated Campaign Against Him

Daniel Bwala, a recently appointed presidential spokesperson, has voiced concerns about what he describes as a deliberate campaign to undermine him. Sharing his thoughts on social media, Bwala called out certain media personalities and platforms, accusing them of orchestrating an agenda against him.

In a message posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Bwala wrote, “When faced with an overwhelming conspiracy by some television guests and anchors pushing an agenda against you, prayer becomes your only weapon. Trust God to reveal their true motives—it’s already happening.”

The statement came on the heels of growing criticism following his appointment. Jesutega Onokpasa, a notable figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently voiced his dissatisfaction with some of President Bola Tinubu’s choices in government appointments, singling out Bwala as an example.

Onokpasa, speaking during a televised interview, described Bwala’s appointment as “absurd,” citing the former aide’s past comments about Tinubu. He pointed out that Bwala had previously made damaging allegations against the president, including labeling him a “drug baron,” a claim Onokpasa dismissed as baseless.

“How can someone who openly defamed the president now be rewarded with a government position? It’s an affront to those of us who worked tirelessly for Tinubu’s electoral victory,” Onokpasa argued.

Onokpasa’s comments have sparked debates within political circles, with some defending the president’s prerogative to make appointments based on merit and others questioning the inclusion of individuals perceived to have been critical of the administration in the past.

Bwala, a lawyer and former aide to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has remained steadfast, urging his supporters to ignore the distractions and focus on the larger picture. “Challenges come with the territory,” he added in a follow-up post.

Observers suggest that the unfolding controversy highlights deeper divisions within the ruling APC, particularly among members seeking recognition for their roles during the 2023 elections. Whether Bwala’s appointment will remain a sticking point or eventually fade into the background remains to be seen.
