Gunmen Abduct Rivers Revenue Board Director in Bold Daylight Operation

In a brazen attack that has shocked the residents of Port Harcourt, a director of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service (RIRS), Sir Aribibia Fubara, was kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday evening. The incident occurred near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, where the assailants executed their well-coordinated plan.

The kidnappers, reported to be over six in number, arrived at the scene via a speedboat from the Okrika waterfront. Witnesses described how the gunmen fired sporadically into the air upon arrival, creating chaos and fear among bystanders. The attackers swiftly identified their target, whisking Fubara into their boat before speeding off to an unknown destination.

Sir Aribibia Fubara, who is also a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Communion of the Church of Nigeria, was taken without any immediate demands from the kidnappers. As of the time of reporting, the abductors have yet to contact Fubara’s family, leaving them in a state of anxiety and uncertainty.

Confirming the incident, Fubara’s younger brother, Emmanuel Fubara, stated that the family has officially reported the kidnapping to the police. The Rivers State Police Command has since launched a manhunt to apprehend the criminals and ensure the safe return of the victim.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, reassured the public that the Commissioner of Police has directed all tactical units to prioritize Fubara’s rescue. “The command is fully aware of the situation, and efforts are underway to ensure that the victim is released unharmed. We are determined to bring those responsible to justice,” she stated.

The audacity of the attack has raised concerns about the security situation in the region, prompting calls for enhanced measures to protect citizens and combat rising crime rates.

As the investigation continues, the people of Rivers State await news of Fubara’s safe return, while the authorities intensify their efforts to curb such alarming incidents.
