Rivers PDP Defies Court Orders, Holds Ward Congress

In a contentious move, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is proceeding with ward congresses across various wards in Rivers State despite clear court injunctions to halt these activities.

At the PDP Secretariat located on Aba Road, party members were seen collecting materials necessary for the congresses, signaling their intent to proceed despite legal restrictions.

In a significant development, the PDP's National Working Committee has taken decisive action against the Rivers State PDP Caretaker Committee (CTC). Led by Aaron Chukwuemeka, the committee was dissolved for insubordination and activities deemed detrimental to the party's interests.

Further complicating the situation, the National Working Committee also announced the cancellation of the day’s congress in Rivers State, aligning with a directive from the Rivers State High Court.

The court's order, which mandates the cessation of the PDP’s ward, local government area (LGA), and state congresses, has been formally served to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at their Port Harcourt office on Aba Express Road. Despite this, the Rivers State chapter of the PDP remains resolute in its decision to continue with the planned congresses, openly challenging the legal injunction.

This defiance underscores a deepening crisis within the Rivers State PDP, as internal conflicts and legal battles intensify, casting uncertainty over the party's immediate future in the state.
