President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a substantial investment of N1.4 trillion for an extensive road construction initiative across Nigeria. This ambitious plan encompasses several key projects, detailed as follows:




Major Road Construction Projects:


1. Benin-Akure-Ilesha Road: HiTech Construction has been awarded N525 billion to construct a 300 km stretch of this critical route using concrete pavements. This project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and transportation efficiency between Benin, Akure, and Ilesha.

   

2. Benin-Akure Stretch 2: HiTech Construction also received an additional N286 billion for the 66 km Benin-Akure section of the road, further strengthening the infrastructure in this region.


3. Imo State Roads: A total of N26.46 billion has been allocated for the construction of the Angingali-Udobi-Udona-Umo-Uwana-Ubalaka road in Imo State. This project, initially budgeted at N14 billion, has been revised upwards to accommodate the increased scope and requirements.


4. Abia State Rehabilitation: The rehabilitation of the Aba-Owerri Road and the NNPC depot expressway in Abia State has been awarded to Rudo Nigeria Limited for N21 billion. This upgrade aims to improve road safety and reduce travel time for commuters.


5. Ogun State Roadworks: N57 billion has been earmarked for the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta-Iboro-Ilaro Road in Ogun State, which is expected to boost local commerce and connectivity.


6. Mubi to Maiduguri Road: Two sections of this crucial route are set for redevelopment. Section Three is valued at N89 billion, while Section Two is budgeted at N67 billion, enhancing the road infrastructure in the northeastern part of Nigeria.


Additional Projects:


- Cross Rivers State: A project worth N79 billion has been approved, reflecting the government's commitment to infrastructural development in this region.

  

- Enugu-Port Harcourt Road: The rehabilitation of this vital corridor has been allocated N83 billion.


- Igomu Bridge: This bridge project, essential for improving local transportation networks, has been approved at a cost of N19.87 billion.


- Umuahia to Aba Road: N90 billion has been sanctioned for this critical roadway, expected to enhance economic activities in the area.


- Ore-Ondo-Akure Road: A significant investment of N134 billion has been approved for this project, which will facilitate better connectivity and trade within the region.


- Ofin-Oreta Road, Ikorodu: In Lagos State, the Ofin-Oreta Road project has been approved with a budget of N27.9 billion, aiming to improve local infrastructure and ease traffic congestion.


This comprehensive road construction plan reflects President Tinubu's commitment to enhancing Nigeria's infrastructure, boosting economic growth, and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The projects span multiple states and regions, addressing critical transportation needs and fostering nationwide development.
