Breaking News: Senate Removes Ndume as Chief Whip Following APC's Request

Senator Ali Ndume

The Senate has announced the removal of Senator Mohamed Ali Ndume from his position as Chief Whip. This decision was confirmed on Wednesday after a voice vote conducted by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, where the APC Senate Caucus supported Ndume's removal.

Ndume, representing Borno South, has been replaced by Tahir Mungono from Borno North. This change comes in the wake of Ndume's recent criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The ruling party, APC, had formally addressed the Senate Caucus, requesting Ndume to resign from the party and consider joining any opposition party of his preference. This request was articulated in a letter signed by the APC's national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary, Barrister Ajibola.
