Opposition Lawmaker Ikenga Ugochinyere Faces Alleged Framing Plot, CUPP Warns

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has raised alarms over an alleged plot to frame Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a prominent opposition lawmaker, on fabricated charges. Ugochinyere, who serves as the spokesperson for a coalition of 60 opposition lawmakers, is reportedly being targeted due to his outspoken stance on the political crisis in Rivers State and his strong advocacy for democracy.

According to CUPP, the alleged plot aims to discredit Ugochinyere and undermine his efforts to uphold democratic values in Nigeria. The coalition, representing various opposition parties across the country, has called on the Inspector General of Police and the Federal Capital Territory police commissioner to investigate these claims thoroughly.

CUPP spokesman Mark Adebayo revealed that the group had received credible intelligence about the scheme. He warned that any attempt to falsely incriminate Ugochinyere would result in significant public outrage and condemnation. Adebayo emphasized that such actions would be seen as a direct attack on democratic principles and the rule of law in Nigeria.

In their statement, CUPP praised Ugochinyere for his unwavering commitment to democracy. They described him as a long-standing activist and a dedicated member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His advocacy efforts, according to CUPP, should be celebrated as they serve the public interest and contribute to the stability of the nation.

The coalition's call for an investigation underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the potential implications for Nigeria's political landscape. As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on the authorities to ensure that justice is served and that democratic values are upheld.
