Uzodinma appoints self as commissioner for land in Imo

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has taken the unusual step of assigning himself the role of Commissioner for Land, Survey, and Physical Planning. This decision, according to Oguike Nwachukwu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, was made to cleanse the ministry of elements that have negatively impacted its reputation.

In an effort to enhance oversight and efficiency within this key department, Governor Uzodinma's strategy focuses on direct intervention. The governor's office will now directly supervise the ministry’s operations to eliminate corrupt practices that have tarnished the image of the state government.

"The intervention by Governor Uzodinma is expected to be welcomed by many citizens of Imo, who believe in his commitment to safeguarding their collective interests," Nwachukwu stated. He highlighted that this move is aimed at ensuring the integrity and proper management of the state’s land resources.

Previously, Enyinnaya Onuegbu held the commissioner position before being succeeded by Noble Atulegwu, the former Commissioner for Skills and Entrepreneurial Affairs. However, in a bid to assert more control and foster transparency, Uzodinma has now stepped into the role himself.
